Lithium turns most of its rated capacity into usable capacity, accepts a much higher charge rate, and lasts for thousands of cycles — which is why it tends to win on cost per usable amp-hour over the life of the bank even though it costs more up front. It does need charging equipment that knows it is charging lithium.
